Our roleProduction & Stage Management, Qasr Stage
A Thousand & One was MDLBEAST's brand-new festival: a homegrown Saudi fantasy built on the tales of One Thousand and One Nights. For its first edition, the Banban site usually home to Soundstorm was reshaped into a more intimate festival world of themed stages, each one a location from the stories.
The whole festival had to be mobilised in less than twelve weeks, from production and scenic suppliers through to the build. Production Director Philip Winward brought in the regular Soundstorm team of Production and Stage Managers, with RxTx's Will Hurn joining them to run the Qasr Stage, a sultan's palace rising out of the desert.
A palace, built for one weekend
Working on site under MDLBEAST and TAIT, we oversaw the delivery of set, scenic and technical elements, keeping every stage operation coordinated from build through to the final set. That included the technical advance for live shows from Eric Prydz, Salvatore Ganacci, DJ Snake and many more.
It was a large-scale, fast-paced festival environment with a complex, multi-layered production. Our role centred on consistency, collaboration and the seamless execution of every show on the stage. Built for live.
